A Behavioral Health Center for Veterans, Service Members, and Their Families

The Sturm Center, part of the Graduate School of Professional Psychology at the University of Denver, is a specialized behavioral health clinic serving Veterans, Service Members—including members of the Guard and Reserve—and their families. Located in the Ammi Hyde Building on DU’s campus, the clinic functions as both a community mental health center and an academic training site for graduate students in psychology.

The Sturm Center offers high-quality, evidence-based, and confidential care across a wide range of behavioral health services and psychological assessments and proudly welcome all Veterans, regardless of discharge status, era, or combat experience. In order to make care more accessible, The Sturm Center operates on a sliding-scale payment model and accepts Medicaid. Operation Equine

Operation Equine proudly empowers our nation’s Warriors and Protectors and their families to reconnect, heal, and move forward together through the power of Equine Therapies, provided by experienced, culturally competent providers.

With licensed mental health professionals and experienced, credentialed coaches, we work with Active Military Service Members, Veterans, First Responders, and their families, caregivers, and supporters: individually, in groups, and in family units.

We also work with leadership teams, peer support teams, and organizations to create tailor-made experiences designed to improve communication, enhance group cohesion, and provide a unique opportunity for groups to experience themselves through a different, more enriched lens.

Salute Colorado

Salute Colorado’s Mission is to support Veterans in their transition from military service through a continuous program of education, mentorship, and fostering community.  We combine a local network of executive coaches and industry leaders with an intentional curriculum, dedicated mentorship and professional networking opportunities.  Services are provided in the greater Denver area, Aurora, Boulder and Colorado Springs and are free of cost for transitioning Veterans.

Huts for Vets

Huts for Vets offers wilderness therapy retreats for veterans and active-duty service members. Through guided hikes, group discussions, and community building, we support veterans on their healing journey and provide them with tools to help transition to civilian life. Our unique nature-based approach empowers participants to cope with stress, strengthen connections, and renew their sense of purpose.

Honor Bell Foundation

The founding principle of the Honor Bell Foundation is to provide an opportunity for the rendering of a respectful, final honor at military funerals and memorial services. This is accomplished with the tolling of a bell — The Honor Bell — in a manner based in tradition and respect. This practice, known as rendering Bell Honors, is the last sound heard at a funeral and is tolled with an understated, solemn, and clear tone.

The Bell Honors follow the “ancient tolling method,” blending smoothly with the dignity of military traditions. Once the folded United States flag is presented to the next of kin, the Bell Guard pays tribute with the Seven Solemn Tolls of the Honor Bell. Each toll, seven seconds apart, represents different phases in a veteran’s journey. Once Bell Honors are finished, the Honor Bell falls silent until its next tolling mission.

Healing Warriors Program

The Healing Warriors Program provides no-cost, non-narcotic therapy utilizing acupuncture, craniosacral therapy, and Healing Touch for Veterans, service members, and their families. These complementary alternative medicine therapies work in conjunction with the client’s medical care to promote the whole person’s well-being. In addition to the complimentary alternative medicine therapies that we provide in our clinics, our dedicated client care specialists work to identify any additional needs that our clients require and connect them with our network of community resources.

Healing Warriors Program envisions a suicide-free world where all veterans and their families thrive.
