House & Foundation History

The Rocky Mountain Fisher House is one of the original houses built by the Fisher House Foundation. It was built in 1992 and opened in 1993 at the Fitzsimmons Army Medical Center Campus. In 1995, The Friends of the Fisher House, Denver VA Medical Center was formed to support the programs of the Rocky Mountain Fisher House. When the base closed in 1996, the management of the Fisher House passed to the Denver VA Medical Center and the Friends of the Fisher House continued their mission of support. In 2011, the Friends organization was renamed the Denver Fisher House Foundation. In 2016, the name changed to the Rocky Mountain Fisher House Foundation in order to reflect the region we serve.
