About The Foundation
The Rocky Mountain Fisher House Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit which supports the Rocky Mountain Regional VA Fisher House located in Aurora, Colorado. The Foundation recognizes the special sacrifices of our men and women in uniform. We are dedicated to supporting military and veteran families while a loved one is receiving medical care at the VA hospital or approved facility. Our goal is to meet a humanitarian need beyond that provided by the VA. Our unique program supports the comfort needs of our military and veteran families during a medical crisis.
FOUNDATION HISTORY:
We have been supporting our local Fisher House for over 25 years. In fact, our Foundation was the first 501(c)(3) dedicated to support a Fisher House. Our founder, Dave Coker, established our Foundation soon after the Denver Fisher House opened on the campus of the Fitzsimons Army Medical Center in Aurora, Colorado back in 1993. The Foundation was created to support the 9-suite Denver Fisher House with services and products that the Army could not provide. When the Army base closed in 1996, the management of the Denver Fisher House passed to the Denver VA Medical Center and the Foundation continued its mission of support. In 2019, the Foundation donated over a half million dollars to build a new Fisher House on the VA campus in Aurora while continuing to support the Denver Fisher House. In 2020, the Denver Fisher House closed and the much larger Rocky Mountain Regional VA Fisher House opened its doors with 16 suites. The Foundation continues to support the VA Fisher House through fundraising efforts and by providing services and products that the VA cannot provide in order to better assist the families staying there.
